Who are
We?
This
Internet site has been developed within the framework of the Daphne
Programme set up by the European
Commission (Justice and Home Affairs General Directorate).
The
content of these pages do not in any way reflect the opinions of
the European Commission or its services.
The
Daphne Project (00/017/WC) brings
together the International Organization
for Migration (IOM) (based in Brussels, Paris, Vienna, Rome,
and Athens) and the following bodies: Pag-Asa
and Payoke (based in
Belgium) along with Differenza
Donna, Associazione
On the Road, and Servizio
Migranti Caritas - Torino (based in Italy). The project
is co-ordinated by the Comité
Contre l'Esclavage Moderne (CCEM) (Committee Against Modern
Slavery, based in France).
The
objective of this two-year project is to record, analyse, and promote
information about the best methods of providing assistance to victims
of trafficking in human beings, with the general aims of integration
into destination countries or reintegration into the countries of
origin. The notion of trafficking in human beings encompasses exploitation
through work or sex.
This
Internet site is intended for use first and foremost by NGOs working
with victims of trafficking in human beings, as well as by law-enforcement
agencies and legal authorities. It is also intended to serve as
a source of information for politicians, local councillors, researchers,
students, and journalists.
